Video clip for "Paul Frick - Neo Biedermeier (Daniel Brandt's Version)
"In 1995, not many thought about the impact that cruise ships could make on the planet. Since then they have tripled in size and capacity. In one day a single cruise ship can emit as much particulate matter as a million cars. Cruise ship operators use scrubbers to wash cheap fuel in order to meet environmental standards, but then discharge the pollutants collected directly into the ocean. Without strictly enforced international rules, the cruise and shipping industry will continue to side-step the regulations and disregard possible solutions. This video includes footage from a Caribbean cruise that I attended with my parents in 1995 when I was 9 years old.
My main memory of this cruise is endless buffets with ice sculptures and eating soft ice cream non-stop." Daniel Brandt 2022
